I need to sell my Benny costume soon! He will be ready to go by the end of August, and I am now accepting offers! I would normally keep him, but I am making other large costumes, and I need space in my small apartment!

I am 5 foot 2 inches, but they costume can easily fit someone larger. The costume is built to last and is even coated in fiberglass resin and mating. The costume will be fully repaired before shipment! If he doesn’t have a buyer before August, he will be auctioned off!

Interested or have any questions? Pop me an ask, or email me at noemiromero.inquires@gmail.com Spread the word if you can! Thanks!

Benny is for sale! :’0

This is it.  This is the pinnacle of nerdom.  This is the greatest height of nerdery that has ever been reached before.

Peter in Loki’s body on a bus downtown to the real Loki and making an excuse that he’s going to a comic convention.

Never will such levels of pure fucking nerd ever be seen again, it’s just not possible.  This is a beautiful day, I am glad I am alive to experience this, god bless.

The replies to this is pure gold! Again, not sure why Disney chose to make a movie abut this trash comic but the fact that they are making something beautiful out of it says a lot. Mix races in cultures is movies in a positive way is rare. Mixed CHILDREN (Hiro being half White, half Japanese) is amazing.

So please, sit down and rethink your argument. Why support a racist comic and get mad when Disney tries to make it diverse?

not once did i mention supporting the original comic in my post. i am very much aware of the racism in the bh6 comic. i’m getting mad at disney because their idea of “diversifying” is erasing people of color - especially erasing indigenous people, who are already heavily ignored and oppressed. if disney wanted bh6 to be progressive, then they simply could have not integrated the stereotypes in the comic. which they didn’t, seeing as san fransokyo looks just like san fransicso but under an orientalist gaze.

and, no, i’m not going to sit down. i have literally been told to “sit down” for my entire life. when i dare open my mouth to speak out against racism in public, i’m immediately shot down, told i’m oversensitive and need to stop “pulling the race card”. despite my personal experiences with racism, people never want me to talk about it. so, no, i’m not sitting down. i am exhausted of sitting down, and tired of my valid feelings being dismissed.

and from one to ten, my heart hurts closer to ten. i grew up with disney’s movies. it hurts seeing disney pulling these racist actions, and telling me - telling asian american children - that we can be the protagonists of movies, but never can we see ourselves in media without the presence of stereotypes and awfully butchered asian cultures.

i’m pretty sure i’m not the one who needs to sit down. rethink your argument.

My apologies if this issue has hurt your heart so hard. Everyone is thinking of this issue different so naturally, you will be getting multiple responses. If I offended you, my apologies. Sometimes arguments can escalate as such. I am a person of color, so I am happy to see different races.

Yes, it is sad that Disney is changing race, however, like someone mentioned, baby steps. The movie industry is a very difficult, so sometimes decisions have to be made that may make a large audience rather upset. I am very happy the movie has a diverse amount of races. Yes, they aren’t all Asian, but I give them that one.

erasure of Asian people and characters is very deep rooted in American media and goes all the way back to conception—don’t let it persist!

Important even when you’re excited about this movie!

good points, but please for the love of god, realize that the original marvel comic was a fucking horrible racist disaster of the most unacceptable calibre that rode on the tail ends of the 90s ninja craze and the budding 00s anime craze.

I still have no idea why Disney chose to adapt this MASSACRE of a comic book series to film, but what I have heard is that they’ve cherry picked the best parts of it and created something great from what was absolute dregs before.

And honestly I think a movie portraying a much, much more racially diverse -even if it is fictional- world, where everyone lives unquestionably together and showing what that might just be like, is a pretty good goddamn thing that I think could stand to be shown and portrayed to kids of this generation. You aren’t seeing the white kids appropriating anybody’s culture, you’re seeing a bunch of kids who are friends and race is not a divisive factor between them. I sort of think, in media, portraying/normalizing these sorts of things is really important and I think that is what BH6 is doing here: normalizing these sorts of situations.

When I say “normalize”, I mean, in media, and especially media for impressionable children, things that could be anything from diverse/inclusive groups of people from different races, to things like different genders, or different body types, being shown as “normal.” You put them on screen and tell a kid “this is normal.” and this can be shown in a way to goad children into doing what advertisers/media producers want, but it can also be used as a force of good. It’s about time we start using this media influence to spread stuff like this, instead of “buy this toy, wear this type of clothes, girls behave this way and boys have to do this or they aren’t normal”.

baby steps, man. There was a shitstorm when Laika released a movie with an openly gay character. But when they did the same thing a year after for the Boxtrolls, only the stupid old people got pissy about it. See? It’s starting to become normalized.

In the future I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s now easier for more diverse casts to exist, not just because it’s now been done once, but because the people, like me, who work in production, can point to things like this and say “see? They did it in Paranorman, the world didn’t explode. It’ll be fine.” or “see? the movie didn’t have to change for a bunch of different races to fit in fine. It’s not a big deal.” It’s been normalized. Somebody has to set a precedent. Wouldn’t it be great if shows were as diverse as this, not because they had some sort of agenda to, but just because that’s… yknow, normal?
